The responsibility of the designer to understand, measure, respond to and minimise the negative environmental effects of the products, furniture or objects they create is the basis for this unit. The developing discipline of design for the environment DfE is explored through theoretical knowledge of the fundamentals, methods of measurement, leading practitioners' work and topical content.
